Learning about children before our demos at the Madison County Public Library

Objectives

This assignment must be completed individually.

Create a new Microsoft Word or text document named YourUserName-A15.
Our two service outreach experiences in the course in which we introduce robots to children in our wider community by doing robotic demos at Berea's Madison County Public Library, which is in walking distance from the College. These outreach events will take place on:
Please answer each of the following questions giving a full paragraph to each numbered question:
  1. Summarize what you see as the primary points of  The Vital Role of Play in Childhood
  2. In a paragraph, discuss the main idea from the article which you believe is most relevant for our upcoming outreach.  Explain why you think this is most relevant.
  3. Do you think that interacting robots can become "play" for the children who attend?  Explain.
  4. What do you think that you and your team do to make the upcoming demo at the library as "playful" as possible for the children?
  5. I promised to give you the opportunity to choose a partner or partners to work with.  If you do not come up with your own partner or parners, it is fine, I will just make assignments based on your preferences.  Ideally, I would like you to work in a team of 4 students, with of you going to the library outreach on Tuesday, December 5th and 2 of you going to the library outreach on Saturday, December 7th.
    1. If you have a preference for an outreach partner, make sure you can both go on the same date!  If you have a partner preference, who would you like to work with, and what day would you both like to go on?
    2. Do you have another pair of students you would like to work with who can go on the other date?  If so, who are they?
When you are finished, save your essay in a file named YourUserName-A15 and submit the file to the appropriate location in Moodle.
