One of my interests/projects has been the evaluation of the bibliographic instruction program at Berea College. In collaboration with my predecessor, Molly Pitts Royse, I helped to complete a four-year study and evaluation of the B.I. program (1989-1993). Many of the documents related to the B.I. program evaluation as well as a presentation made at the June 1995 ALA Conference are available.

Although it has now been several years since I spent my sabbatical at Africa University, I still continue to field questions about my time there. The country has certainly seen some major changes since my visit. But Africa University continues to grow, adding several buildings since my visit, including a separate, new library. In November 2006, I took a two-week trip with a 27-member Volunteers In Mission team and have added a page of photos to this site. Check it out!

My most recent sabbatical involved creating a relational database to support database-driven web pages on the library's website. A handout from my recent poster session at the fall Kentucky Library Association Conference is available, as is the presentation handout and bibliography for my recent session at the Appalachian College Association's Tech Summit.

I also enjoy keeping up my musical skills in various ways, one of which is by playing in the Danville Advocate Brass Band. This link has some pictures from one of our concert series. You can almost hear the music! I also play in the Lexington Brass Band. The LBB performs music in the British Brass Band tradition, so there is some difference between the two groups. Enjoy!

My interest in British style brass bands has also resulted in my election to the board of the North American Brass Band Association. The organization holds annual competitions each year where some of the best British style brass bands from the United States and Canada compete (including one of my personal favorites The Brass Band of Columbus). This year's competition will be held March 28 & 29, 2008, at Indiana University Southeast.

With my interest in order and organization, I've also discovered some great sites that arrange other web pages by subject. Here is a list for you to try, as well as a link to some Metasearch engines where you can search Google, Yahoo!, MSN Search and AskJeeves, all at the same time.
