Introduction to video editing
Objectives
The practice part of this assignment is to be done
individually. No consultations are allowed.
Video editing can be done with a number of software package depending
upon what operating system you are using. Here are my
recommendations:
All of these packages are fairly easy to use except for the maddening issue of dealing with incompatible video formats...
In and out of class:
- For this assignment, you will work with the movie file Class_1_11_11.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5353207/Class_1_11_11.m4v,
or \\academic\Academic\Mathematics & Computer Science\PearceJ\Resources\Class_1_11_11.m4v
- You are going to be making shorter clips and then combine them in order to keep nothing except the Tupelo, MS story.
- For how to do this with iMovie http://www.apple.com/support/imovie/
- For how to do this with Windows Movie Maker, see http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/moviemaker/getstarted/clips.mspx
- For how to do this with Windows Live Movie Maker, see http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-trim-a-video-clip-in-windows-live-movie-mak.navId-323836.html
- Add an approriate title screem, good transitions, a screen with credits (you are editor) and other optional niceties.
- Save this in a movie file format with a meaningful name. Use Dropbox.com to save files and to transition to other computers.
- You
will not be able to upload this in Moodle because it will be too dang
big. Instead bring the edited video to class on Tuesday.
- By Thursday put the completely edited video in your public dropbox folder and upload a link to this video in Moodle.
