Introduction to digital images
Objectives
- Learn about images
- Continue thinking about video
In and out of class:
- Video work: With partners, work to identify segments of the Class_11_11.m4v video which should be kept.
- Photo editing work to be done individually:
- Create a new folder called yourusername-PA5. You will use this to work with a photo.
- Choose an image which you would like to work with in class. Save a copy of this original image as yourusername-PA5-original in the folder yourusername-PA5.
- Next open a photo editor and crop the photo. Save this cropped image as yourusername-PA5-crop in folder yourusername-PA5.
- Next use a photo editor to resize either the copy of the
original or the cropped version by making a thumbnail-sized photo
without distorting the image. A typical thumbnail is about 200 x
200 or smaller, and the file size is typically less than 10k.Save this thumbnail-sized image as yourusername-PA5-thumb.
- Next try filters in the photo editor. There are a wide variety of filters available. Have fun trying them out. Choose one to submit which is clearly not the same as the original. Save this filtered image as yourusername-PA5-filter.
- Finally, add a new blog post to the blog you created for this
class. You may blog about anything at all, but you must add one
of the images you have been working with to the blog post. We will look
for this post at the same blogsite you used for the previous blog
assignments. If you have decided to change blogs be sure to
include a Word file with the new blog URL in your submitted folder.
- When you are finished, zip the folder and upload the zipped folder yourusername-PA5 to
the appropriate location in Moodle.
